Calcium silicate board: the ideal building material choice in high humidity environment

Calcium silicate board has become the preferred building material for high humidity scenes such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements due to its excellent moisture-proof performance. Its moisture-proof properties are derived from the following core advantages:

Inorganic materials are resistant to water penetration

The base material is synthesized by high temperature and high pressure with silicon (quartz powder), calcium (lime) and reinforcing fiber. It has no organic components, a dense structure, and a water absorption rate as low as ≤10% (the water absorption rate of ordinary gypsum board is >30%), which effectively blocks water vapor erosion and does not expand or deform in a long-term humid environment.

Anti-mildew and corrosion-resistant, long-lasting and stable

Inorganic components do not provide a nutrient source for mold. With a moisture-proof coating (optional), the surface mildew resistance level reaches level 0 (GB/T 1741 standard), eliminating the problem of blackening and mildew spots in a humid environment and extending the life of the wall.

No loss of strength in hot and humid environments

After boiling in boiling water for 6 hours (GB/T 7019 standard), the flexural strength retention rate is >90%, and it can still maintain high strength in an environment with humidity >85%, avoiding the risk of powdering and cracking of traditional boards after moisture.

Application scenarios and construction suggestions

  • Bathroom partitions/ceilings: directly replace gypsum boards, and use waterproof sealants to treat joints without additional moisture-proof layers.
  • Basement walls: To cope with moisture during the rainy season, reduce wall peeling and hollowing problems.
  • Outdoor decorative substrates: The surface is covered with waterproof paint or metal plates to withstand rain erosion.

Purchase tips: Pay attention to the density of the board (≥1.2g/cm³) and moisture-proof certification (such as JC/T 564.1 standard), and give priority to products with notched designs to improve the moisture-proof effect of joints.
